Once your baby moves on past the six-month mark, you should notice some social skills developing. They might be more curious and be actively involved in games like hiding. They might also test boundaries around this time, so be prepared. This could be anything from throwing toys when you've told them not to, hitting things or acting out. Don’t worry – it will all pass. Your baby can also forget when you've told them no, as they're still learning. A simple 'say no and quickly distract them' is a good tactic if you're trying to stop a particular behaviour. Your baby might start to sort toys in sizes and shapes, this is part of them figuring out how one object relates to another. Your baby will also be more emotional - the beginnings of separation anxiety can show up about now. They used to be in their own little world, but now when you leave the room your baby can get upset. Suddenly they’re acutely aware of the times you're not around!
